Benji's Party!

Benjamin woke up on Saturday morning and when he saw all of the decorations in the living room he said "MaMa, Planes, Sky!" Then he started running around the house saying "Party, Party, Party"......and then he stubbed his toe on the ottaman and fell flat on his face. Good Morning!  We spent the day getting ready, he helped me cook, and we picked up the cake. It was not easy explaining why he couldn't open presents or eat the cake. But he finally agreed to wait for Baby Babe to play with toys, and I told him the cake had to cook.  The family came over and we grilled outside, it was 103 degrees I think, poor Edmund. We played outside- kite, skateboard, golf, bowling (which turned into bowling golf!)  Then presents and the Grand Finale.... Cake!  He ate an entire piece and then started eating out of the main cake,went much better than last year, he wouldn't touch the stuff! 

Benjamin's 2nd Birthday!

Benjamin turned 2 years old today. I would say " Is it your birthday?" and he would put his serious face on and shake his head yes. Then the giraffe from ToysRUs called him on the phone to wish him a happy birthday- Serious face again while he was on the phone... shaking his head "yes, I will have a awesome day today Giraffe, Kyou Much, Kyou Welcome Much" he said (Thank you very much , your welcome very much) He played all day, whatever he wanted to do: golf, he played with every toy he owns, PaPa J had to read at least 30 books. And I bought little mini cupcakes that made him do a jig.  CAKE was the word of the day. Edmund had to work, but we went to dinner anyway and had a huge piece of cake. He actually put the fork down on the plate, made a "full" face, and pushed the plate away "Done" he said :-)  But as soon as I started talking about his party on Saturday, he started saying CAKE again, so I guess there is room for more!

In his new room- Auntie CaCa and Baby Babe went with us for an Ikea shopping spree to up-date the "boys" room, he loves having a tree in his room like "Where the Wild Things Are" He says "Oh, No, Tree Room" ...but he likes it!

Even though he is two, he still wanted to be wrapped up like a "baby" after his bath.... it's tradition!

Relaxing

We went to the Keys when I was 7 months pregnant with Benjamin- to continue the tradition we went to Prince Edward Island for a week of relaxation before "D-Day".  We stayed at a friends cottage on the beach- the island is a fishing and farming community, some of the most picturesque landscape I've seen.  We ate fish and chips the first night at the "Blue Goose" and then settled into the cottage- no TV,phone, computer, no traffic noise or AC units running. We kept the windows open and really the loudest thing all week was Benjamin (felt a little sorry for the neighbors!) Every morning and night we had that sweet smelling cool weather with a light breeze, and then it would warm up and the sun would shine all day. We spent most of our days driving the roads looking at the scenery and visiting shops, general stores and side of the road "honor system" farm stands. I even found an honor system honey stand! We ate seafood every night, live lobsters that the locals insisted you boiled in ocean water, mussels, seafood chowder, clams, oysters and  quahogs (ask Edmund!) Barb had a small dirt bike that Benjamin had to ride at least three times a day, and Edmund and Benjamin would take off and go exploring the countryside looking for cows- and Edmund had to control Benjamin's "throttle junkie" ways (go figure!)
